I thought I had best introduce myself.
My name is Lisa, and I am Brighter Beginnings Therapy. I am a fully qualified counsellor and psychotherapist based in Leeds, offering person-centred counselling across the UK through online therapy sessions.
I live with my son and my dog in Leeds and run Brighter Beginnings Therapy, offering online therapy sessions. I am a Mom, a daughter, a sister, an auntie, a dog Mom, and so much else in between. I love connecting with people, but I also love time alone. I enjoy walking my son’s dog that he swore he would walk every day (ha!) when he got her over 9 years ago, I love watching horror movies, but I also love Disney movies. I decorate wildly for Halloween, and I love Christmas, although I am very aware that many people do not for many different reasons. The things that I love do not impact accepting the differences of others. I love colour, unicorns, rude noises, reading, jigsaw puzzles, meals out with friends and quiet nights in. Luckily, the dog is a lap dog, although she does not share my love of horror movies and is quite outspoken against zombies.
We are all different, and yet we often have similarities too. We all have things that we struggle with throughout our lives, and often, we are not aware of how those things can affect us until we are faced with trouble in our relationships with others. I was in an abusive relationship, and although I had managed to escape from the relationship, the damage it was still inflicting on me and my loved ones was obvious in my relationships with myself, my son, my immediate family and my friends. It was only through therapy and learning about myself that I was able to forgive myself, accept what had happened and move forward with my life. I decided that I didn’t want anyone else to feel like I did, so I decided to become a counsellor and psychotherapist.
After finishing a Masters in Counselling and Psychotherapy, Brighter Beginnings Therapy was born.
My clients are from all over the UK, and our work together is varied, covering many different issues that crop up in our everyday lives. Depression, anxiety, abuse, feelings of being overwhelmed, clarity of life direction and helping with coping strategies for many of life’s struggles, to name but a few.
If you think you might benefit from talking to someone who is empathetic, non-judgmental and can provide a safe space for enabling you to move forward with your life, then please feel free to get in touch. I would love to connect with you and listen to your stories.
